2.1: the work of eip agri in supporting innovation for farmers

EIP Agri became the most relevant tool in the last 5 years for exchange of knowledge at European level. This session assesses current and potential role in collaboration with EU projects to achieve a fair and participative digital transformation in agriculture and food sector. The audience will have the possibility to ask questions.

Chair: Juan Sagarna

Track 3: Iof2020 impact & business

13.45 –14.30

3.1: IoT sustainability impact: KPIs and measurement

Digital technologies are a major driver of change in the Agri-food sector, particularly in enabling the sector's transformation towards sustainability. How can IoT Technologies help with measuring Key Performance Indicators that help guide this transformation, in line with the recent EU Green Deal & Farm to Fork strategies, and the UN's 2030 Agenda?

Chair: Gohar Nuhoff-Isakhanyan

Track 4: iot, values and data sharing

13.45 –14.30

4.1: Bringing ethics into technology: the VSD tool

Based on our interaction with IOF use cases we have developed an online a step-by-step guide that supports developers of digital farming technology to attend to values in various phases of the design. The guide will be launched in the session.

Chair: Elsje Oosterkamp

Track 5: use cases perspective

13.45 –14.30

5.1: Valuable failures: what can we learn from them?

Innovation is impossible without failure. Actually, Innovation and failure are best friends forever. In this session, we do not want to push failure under the carpet. We will bring it on stage and in the spotlight for only one reason: learn from it and help others learn from it.

Chair: Jürgen Vangeyte

Track 1: reference architecture in agrifood

15.00 - 15.45

1.2: IoT and Semantic Interoperability

While in search of collaborations and synergies on the reuse of standards concerning data and services, different lessons are learned. In this session you will get a recap of previous work done on this topic, more recent developments and even next steps beyond the scope of IoF2020 and alignment with new initiatives. Previous work has been done on synergies between use cases. Information models and information modeling, as a capability, have been studied within the arable and meat trials.

Chair: Daoud Urdu

15.45 - 16.30

1.3: Technology Reuse & Replication of Results

IoT enables the realization of diverse solutions that can help to monitor, plan, and control agri-food processes as well as supporting stakeholders in a more efficient usage of resources. However, solutions are often highly customized and system architectures not necessarily designed for a modular extension or secure operation. This session will present IoF2020 results aiming at reuse, monetization, and replication of solutions with a focus on security.

Chair: Harald Sundmaeker

Track 2: IoT and farmer community

15.00 - 15.45

2.2: iot from young farmer's perspective

In this session Simon Vancke, the vice president of the Council of European Young Farmers will explain what it means to use IoT technology in his farm. What are the benefits, what are the implications and possible difficulties faced by the end users of the technology. Audience will have the possibility to ask questions.

Chair: Simon Vancke (CEJA)

15.45 - 16.30

2.3: Iot deployment in EU farmer's community

In this session, Manuel Delgado from COPA-COGECA (the largest European representation of farmers and cooperatives) will present the outcomes of the digitalization of agriculture. What does it mean for the farmers, what are the attention points and the fields of activity of COPA COGECA regarding the IoT deployment. Audience will have the possibility to ask questions.

Chair: Manuel Delgado (CopaCogeca)

Track 3: iof2020 impact & business

15.00 - 15.45

3.2: business potential of smart iot services in agrifood

Digital solutions in agrifood enable various new business models, but also require transparent collaboration between actors and the value chain and even competitors. Learn from IoF2020 about successful business models and why validation, communication, and funding are key to bring IoT solutions to market.

Chair: Alexander Berlin

15.45 - 16.30

3.3: Ecosystem Activation for Mission-Based R&I Approaches in Agrifood

Successful transformation of the food system towards a more sustainable, just, and healthy food system requires innovative approaches and the involvement of multiple stakeholders. So what can we do to enable the innovation ecosystem needed to deliver on a Sustainable Food System from Farm to Fork?

Chair: Nadim Choucair

Track 4: iot, values and data sharing

15.00 - 15.45

4.2: 4 years of data sharing in iof2020: what are the lessons learned?

Results will be presented of the interviews with coordinators of 33 use cases. What are their recommendations about how data sharing can be fostered? And what do other stakeholders think about these recommendations?

Chair: Simone van der Burg, Houkje Adema
and Else Giebers

15.45 - 16.30

4.3: Agricultural machinery data-sharing strategy

Within this Session, the agricultural machinery industry presents its views on agricultural digitization from the trust by the Code of conduct to trust by design. This also includes the activities ongoing in AEF, the Agricultural industry Electronics foundation. As the industry has not all answers in this joint endeavor some needs and questions identified by the industry are signaled, hoping for a fruitful discussion with the audience.

Chair: Ivo Hostens (CEMA)

Track 5: use case perspective

15.00 - 15.45

5.2: iof2020 challenges and responses to covid-19

The outbreak of the Covid19 is having an invaluable effect on our society and national and global economies. Worldwide, the pandemic has significantly affected food systems, particularly agricultural inputs and outputs markets, food processing, and employment along food value chains. Within the session, we will take a closer look at some of the IoF2020 solutions tackling challenges such as changing food demand, long delivery time, and reduced available workforce.

Chair: Jovana Vlaskalin

15.45 - 16.30

Closing plenary

16.30 - 17.15

Gender Inclusiveness in Agri-Tech

Addressing gender inequality is essential to achieving sustainability in agriculture. Yet today, women in agriculture face a variety of challenges and constraints that their male counterparts do not – including lack of equal opportunities, wage inequality, lack of support due to social, economic, and political norms, etc. Within the session, we will talk with four outstanding ladies, about their valuable experiences, observations, and vision on closing the gender gap in Agri-Tech.
